I have a question about transmission fluid, Yes i have searched the forum but have not found what i was looking for. Im changing the transmission fluid and filter on my 2005 grand prix comp-g. It was changed 2 years ago at a shop by the previous owner and the receipt says it was filled using dexron iii. I picked up Mobil 1 dexron-VI ATF, Will there be any issues mixing the two since i wont get all the fluid out with just a filter change. Also is Mobil 1 dexron-VI ATF a good fluid to use for this transmission? i have read conflicting statements. Thanks

There should be no mixing issues at all. GM recommends Dex 6 for all transmissions these days, it should not have trouble and shoudl be backwards compatible.

With that said, I did dex 6 on my latest trans in an 2000 Regal. It is working well. As for Mobil vs other brands this should not make much of a difference either.

Great thanks. Also I know the transmission's are different between the base model and gtp but are the filters the same? And how much fluid do I replace in a pan drop? 8qts? So 7.5 liters?

Filter is the same for all the 4T60E and 4T65E models. It'll be the same filter. If you hit Advance it's Proking number FK-190.

it'll take anywhere from 6.5 to 7.5 quarts.
