this one will fall under regal owners only maybe.

since i got this car, every now and then if i started it and put it in gear and started to drive before the chimes stopped, the steering would get stiff, and the brakes feel like they are holding the car, and the trans feels funny, like its hold the car back as well. and the abs light trac off light, service car soon lights come on and the brake light. all at once.

lately its doing it more and more. when it does this i need to turn it off open the door, and re start it, wait for the dash to reset ( all the lights to go off, normal start up) wait for the chimes to stop and then put it in gear and go. sometimes it will feel like its still holding back for about 15 feet then just get all free feeling and drive normally.

every thing else seems to be working just fine, (airbag light is always on) just this intermittent issue.

any other Regal owners ever have this happen?

im thinking my bcm may be on its way out.

You might be feeling the ABS test. You know that grrrrrr noise that'll happen when you start up. It's the ABS system doing it's usual test. Wondering if you are getting it into gear and that's the issue. I'm thinking your cluster is fine.

its not the abs test thing it does that all the time, and my cluster is fine too. this is just odd, when it happens if you give it gas and try to go, its being held back some how. and the steering is hard to turn like 1/2 power steering. it only acts like this when i start it and try to get going, then all them lights come on. its an electrical glitch of some kind somewhere i think.

it did this with my old stock brakes, and the old trans in it too, same deal with the new brakes and trans.

Well.. if the abs isn't actuating and holding, I'm not sure what else could. The PS well..you should be magna steer right? Maybe there's a little something in the system that tells the Magna to stiffen if the abs is actuating to keep you from doing anything drastic.

I don't believe the BCM is hooked to the abs for control in your year. Pretty sure it's that big dumb thing on the master in your year.

yup all my abs crap is bolted to the side of my master, and thats leaking too, i saw what could have been a leak under it running down the booster, cleaned it up and and a new line of brake fluid appeared. and im thinking that leak is what is causing air to get into the abs. i can bleed the abs every 2 weeks and get air from it. you think that may be my problem?

remember after i put the f bodys on, i had a mushy pedal? i bleed the abs and my pedal was a rock. it has two bleeder valves on the front of the abs.

Shoot Max a text, see if he kept that ABS dealio. I pulled it as one chunk to get the drivetrain out.

I think you have an issue there and likely.. it's the cause.

the abs crap unbolts from the master i believe as the only one's i find on line are just the master, no pump on the side. and they say this master need to be bleed on the car not off the car. via the abs pump i guess as it has 2 bleeder valves, kinda makes sense, no?

this has me thinking a bit tho, if air was getting into the abs pump, the abs test may be seeing the air and making all them lights come on and making the car feel weird.

I unhook the 4 lines, then the electrical, two 15's that hold it to the booster and toss the whole thing.

i'd hate to toss out good parts, the master is leaking, not the pump. how had is it to get the 2 bolts off the master to the abs?

    thanks bill.

had a phone'r on Thursday, when i told them they took back the guy i replaced, with no notice at all and dumped my hours to 4 for the week, she goes oh no... that's not right...ill find out in 5 to 7 business days where i stand.

crazy part is I've been told by 3 different people i can sue them for this type of act, but is that really worth it?

so thanks to Bill for sending me another master and abs set up, problem is, i may have air in the pump still, need to re bleed again.

the problem with the abs lights coming on happened a few times since the swap. and last night it was raining out and i wanted to see how the abs acted when nailed in the rain, so from a 30 roll i nailed them, ( in a parking lot) i felt the abs kick in and the car stopped pretty damn fast, but the abs lights trac off light and brake light all lit up after i stopped fully.

not sure where this is going.....other than re bleeding the brakes im at a loss with this one.
