Can I remove the sensor and see if that makes a difference before I replace the cat?

My initial thought would be no. However, perhaps unbolting the downpipe that leads to the cat would help you troubleshoot. Hopefully one of the gurus will chime in.
Yeah you can pull out your upstream o2 and drive around and see if it gets better and if it does then your cat is probably clogged. What symptoms are you having?
Bogging under slow acceleration especially at around 50 mph. It's showing a service light for a p420 code as well. Just thought I would rule everything out before I buy the cat
Here's an idea from the "I live in Florida so I don't care if it poisons the environment" handbook: Remove the Cat and U-Bend either way.
Yes you can. Don't drive it hard though, because it won't know what the fueling is and therefore you don't want to beat on it.
