I have a 2004 Grand Prix GT it has 170,000 kms and has been having problems at startup. Sometimes when I start up it stalls out and I have to try again and it starts fine when applying gas. It does it on warmer days as well as colder days. I find it does it more frequent on Cold days but the problem still exists on warm days. Also a few times when it stall the radio clock will reset. What could the problem be and what is the fix? Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Clean you maf and throttle body.

Take the TB off and brake clean/carb clean the piss out of it.

I was under the impression that a dirty throttle body would cause stalling and irregular idle when stopped at lights and such. I am fine once started its only when starting up anytime of the day. I was thinking it could be the fuel filter??? Could this be the problem???

    Trust us.

Take it off and clean it.

    You'll see what we mean.

I like to use....throttle body cleaner. It's better for the TB than brake cleaner or carb cleaner.

Does anybody have a picture of where the throttle body and Mass air flow sensor are in a 2004 Grand Prix

You coulda used google, but here.

Here is a basic picture of what your throttle body looks like, its bolted to the Upper intake manifold, and has a intake tube running to it.

Here is you maf sensor, which is inside the intake tube.

I had that same problem with my 04 GT. Mine was doing it about once a week and after the cleaning it hasn't done it in the year since. I used the 3M "Fuel System Tune-Up Kit" because it was more than just a throttle plate clean. It was easy and had clear instructions - though not specific to our Grand Prix, of course. That was just what I used because I didn't want to remove the TB completely.
