Allright guys, I recently installed a new blower motor in my gtp cause my heater died. Anyways this wasnt the first time it was running. I day i put it in i let it run for awhile and it worked awsome. Well anyways i didnt drive it for a day and today when i started it up i turned on the heat and i heard this loud pop and smoke came out under the passenger side under the glove box area, i was like **** the blower moter probably just blew up. But it seems to work ok right now. I installed it ok, like their was no wires in the way. The only thing i didnt do was i forgot to put on the rubber seal that came with the new one. I put the new one on and forgot to put the seal on and it was a pain in the ass enough to take it out again soo i said o well, you think that could of been a cause to the little pop and smoke issue ??

It would be my first suspicion. I would imagine there is enough vibration there that the insulation of a wire could be worn through and cause some problems.

I think you may have an exposed wire under the dash now.....

If there was a short somewhere, I'd figure that the fuse would blow before it made the motor pop. There's nothing like trying to get that awful electrical burn smell out of a car......bleh

Does the blower work on one speed only now-maybe the blower motor resistor.

I would take the blower motor back out to inspect the wiring and replace anything if necessary. Then on reinstall, make sure you reinstall correctly. But that is my personal opinion. I just don't like knowing something isn't done correctly.

Not that i know of, but it's not that hard, the only thing thing is it's a pita to get it back in, taken it out isnt bad at all. The blower motor is located on the passengers side under the glovebox, you will have to take the kick panel out then you should see the bottom of it, their are 4 screws i belive and then their is a rubber hose that you have to unplug and then you got to disconect the wire it just clips off not a big deal. I did it twice cause i thought i could use my working blower motor from my 97 gtp and use it on my 99 gtp but it didnt fit just right.
