I was planing on taking off my front valve cover to paint it tom. i just have a few questions
    1. Do i only have to remove the dogbone and the bracket the holds on the coils ?

    2. When removing the dog bone do i have to put a jack under the engine to keep it from moving ?

1.) Only if they're in the way.

2.) No. Just make sure it's on a level surface, parking brake applied, and tranny in park. If you're only removing one, it's no big deal. Removing both might allow the engine to shift forward or back about a half inch. No big deal, just gotta grab it and push/pull it to line them up again. Easy.

Post some pics, b/c I am painting under the hood, and was wanting to know that same thing. Do you use a primer, or just use high heat paint.
If my pics are not working, please email me, I may have moved the pics on a different page on Photobucket. Thanks

I always like to use a primer so the paint has somthing good to hold on to.

stupid question, but what do you all have to remove to paint the Valve Cover?

I understand about the collar and dog bone, on the 01, do you have to remover aluminum piece that is on the pass side?
