so my grand prix has been doing this for a while. it shifts fine for a while, but after driving for a while and coming to a stop, then taking off it starts shifting hard and whining really bad. its not low on fluid or losing it, but i can turn the car off for a minute, then turn it back on and it wont do it for a while. any ideas? I cant really tell where the whining is coming from besides the area below the brake fluid. 2001 grand prix gt 3800

For the sake of all the views and no replies I'm gonna say that it sounds like a intermittent transmission issue. I hate transmissions and don't care to know a lot about them but this sounds like a problem. I hope its not and that someone on here helps u soon. Good luck

best thing to do in this case is to take the car to a real trans shop and ask them to scan the car. the scanner they have will show codes that the free scan at auto zone dont pick up. after you get the code people will be able to help out better.

    is the cel on?

i'd guess it's an electrical problem. PCS would be my guess. line pressure increases due to a bad solenoid and bam there's your hard shift.

93 CTD - more slow, less rust
