hello. I am new to the site so bear with me. I have recently purchased a 2006 Grand Prix GT and it has some issues, or an issue. The service engine light is on and the car seems to have an issue going into 2nd gear. I have a Buick Century that had the same issue but there was a wire with a hole in it and that fixed that issue. I have changed the plugs and wires but its still the same. It seems like it may be the fuel injection or an O2 sensor, I think this car has 2, but I am not sure. I know a little about cars but not a lot. I don't like taking cars to shops being that I am a woman and they try to tell me all kinds of things are wrong, so i try to get a general idea of what to ask for. Can anyone help me with this?

What gas do you put in it?

    Have you checked the codes?

take a ride to auto zone or any other parts store that has a scanner to read codes for free, that code will most likely tell you where your problem is and where to start.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

2004-2005 GT's were naturally aspirated, 87 is fine.

    2006-2007 GT's were supercharged, 91 minimum.

What Matt said for octane. As for issues: O2, knock, Cat clogged. Go get it scanned and report back to help us narrow it down.

Very possible your car is pulling time to reduce knock.

    And smile it's Blacktooth Grin!
