My wife's Venture has an oil leak and was wondering if you guys could help me tracking it down. I will try to comment the pictures the best I can.

This obviously is the top of the motor. The pass side dog bone is not straight as you can see. i don't know if this will casue problems.

This pic shows oil and road grime on my rad and fans.

This pics shows the pully side of the motor where i think the leak is coming from.

This pic shows where the oli is being flung against the hood.

This pics is under the pass side of van. I'm not sure what this is, but you can see the oil covered in road grime.

This pic is a better angle of the picture above this one.

Here you can see the oil coating the underneath.

This pic is taken from the pass side wheel well. It's hard to see, but most everything is covered in oil and grime.

Let me know what you think. I don't think it is leaking alot of oil, but I would like to know where it is coming from. My GP is also leaking on this side and I am guessing it is the same place.

I think the best way to find that leak since everything on the passenger side is soaked, will be to clean it down and keep an eye on it.

Check all of your lines that are easy to get to first, i just fixed a leak coming from a crappy hose clamp right in the front of the bay.

Will the crooked dog bone hurt anything? The engine is a reman that was replaced before I bought the van. i bought the van because it has the 3 series engine and I know that there is a lot of knowledge around this forum.

I have never power washed an engine bay before. Other than alternator, battery and fuse block what will I have to cover so that it won't get wet? What cleaner do you recommend?

The crooked bones shouldn't cause any real issues. It may point to an aluminum oil pan (seems like they sit the mount lower) and or a bad lower mount.

We had a motor mount replaced a week after we bought it becasue the van had a terrible vibration. I knew it was the mount. I seen the mount after the mechanic changed it and it was pretty bad. He said the oil really cause the mount to wear fast. I am affraid this will keep happening.

I may power wash it this week. What cleaner works best? and do i need to cover so no electric parts get damaged?

Teh only things I don't spray is the alt and the air filter. I use purple power. But really any degreaser will likely work well.

I was thinking that too, but I am not going to tear apart a van with 200,000 miles on it. I will clean and keep and eye on how bad it is leaking. if it is leaking a lot, maybe I will have my mechanic tear it apart. There is not much space under the hood to work. My GP is leaking in a similar location. I am hoping to pick up a cheap 04 GTP this weekend and sell the 03 or clean up the GTP and sell it for profit. In any case, I will clean it and snap a few pics of it.

ok, so i dont think its getting into your coolant which is a good thing. its probably coming from the belt side because the oil is on the hood and getting flung back past the oil pan. i say belt side becuase its probably hitting the belt and getting flung up.

lim could be leaking over on that side. Just take a 10mm wrench and see if you can get to any of the bolts on the lim and try to tighten up the sides. The bolts like to back out if no locktite was used on them.

i don't know the shop that put the motor in, but I did call them and it sounded like a poor place. I'm guessing the original owner went the cheap route. I probably won't have time for a few days, but I will check it out. Thanks.

Mine on my wifes car i took out with my fingers they were that loose. You might get a little mileage out of it before you have to fix it if you just tighten them up.

Yeah if your oil isn't milkshakey and your oil level isnt TOO low i would just do what Billboost said and clean up the bay and then youll get the easiest view of where its leaking from.

Also are you sure it's oil? It could be coolant leaking out.
