ok thanks for the response, im going to check all the vacum lines in the area, and would this be the only thing that could be causing this problem if the lines are all tighten and wasnt the problem?
how many miles does ur car have? i have same car and the same exact problem except mine does it on rare occasions, mostly when im driving for long time, and if ur car has around 62-68k miles (like mine) then it prolly needs a tranny flush
man the car has over 100,00 plus on it. i got it checked and my mechanice was telling me that also had a rear main seal leak
quick qestion do u know many vacum lines are on the motor
Is it a GT or GTP?
A vaccum leak can be caused by any unmetered air entering the engine after the mass air flow sensor.
Is your check engine light on?
its the regular grandprix no gt or gtp. and yes the check engine light has been on for a long time and has been called all type of stuff for being on, the thermostat, plugs,
- hello i have a 2005 grANDprix, and i had asked this same question aout a week ago about my cars rpms going up and down and the car jerkining back and forth. this is going on while the car is moving, i got a response as far as checking the gasket to the engine bay, but i had the car looked at again and they told me it was the transmission, can anyone let me know if this sounds like a transmission issue? and my next question is my lock on the driver side door wont open and it takes like ten minutes for the key to turn to the left or the right does anyone know how much it is to to that fixed?
is the car like chugging at 30 mph with a light throttle? and the rmp's jerking up and down like 500 rpm? if so its most likely a pcs solenoid.
i just had the same problem, dove it for like a month like that and then lost 3 rd gear all together. put in a used trans.
oh door lock, put some graphite spray into the lock where the key goes in, should smooth it out. unless its frozen, you can heat the key with a lighter and re try to open the door in a pinch.
Like scottydoggs said, could be a pcs solenoid or possible torque converter. It's hard to say.... you need to get what the CEL lights are on for and post the codes. That would help us out even more.
yeah its chugging. like everytime we are getting on a on ramp for the freeway it does it and it just became worst in the last week or so, and we have had some one tell us about putting a used trans in, but i was talking this guy at my job and he suggest that it could be the throttle body needs adjustments or the electronic control needs adjustments, what do you think about what he is saying?
ok im going to try some of that out and see if that works for the key hole, thanks i;ll let you know how that worked

These newer Grand Prixs seems to have a sensitive throttle body. You should take off the throttle body and clean out the buildup on it, you can use carb cleaner on this. As for the MAF sensor, clean it with only electronic cleaner/ MAF cleaner... same aisle as carb cleaner probably. This may or may not help the issue. You do not need to adjust the throttle body in any way, don't worry about this just clean it properly. I wouldn't recommend a used transmission as these are the weakest part of these cars and you could end up with another bad tranny in 10k miles. Just my .02 cents.
Link that shows how to clean both the MAF and throttle body.

Also one other thing is if you have never done any transmission maintenance, now would be the time. Take it in, have them drop the pan and replace the filter and fluid. Do not have it flushed, as this could lead to advancement in potential problem.
after you clean the t body, go to a trans shop and have them scan the car for codes, the free one at autozone may not get it done. let them test drive it and see what they think. and if you need a pcs or another solenoid you will be getting a pan drop anyways.
hello, i posted a couple of days agao about having issues with my grand prix, and how i was having problems with the rpms going up and down while the car was in motion. and when the car takes off or is getting ready to shift it seems that the car will make this huge jerk and go, so i had the mechanic look at it and said that it was the transmission in the car, so i replaced the trans with a used trans, but know the car almost at everytime of a take off from a light or a stop will make this huge jerk move before going ahead up the street, does anyone have any clue what this issue is?
