I replaced the front passenger door on my 99 GTP with a door off a 03 SE. Everything worked on the passenger door on the GTP, it just had some cosmetic exterior body damage that I wanted to swap doors with. Noticable differences were that the passenger door off the 03 doesn't have a key cylinder and the wiring harness plugs were different. I took the complete wiring harness out of the SE door and took the window motor off the GTP door as well as the complete wiring harness out of the GTP door. Got it all hooked up and the power window would not work, neither from the passenger switch or the driver switch, however the door lock did work from both passenger and driver. I inspected the window switch and it seemed fine. I took the window motor off (that was working fine a week ago when I took the GTP door off) and inspected it, even taking it apart to clean the points. Hooking it directly to the battery the motor worked fine in both directions. Putting a test light to all the wires on the switch and to the window motor I got nothing. Unplugging the door harness I touched each of the male posts, a couple on the bottom locked and unlocked the door when I touched them but other wise no lights. I had someone else press the passenger window switch on the driver controls while I stuck a light to each. Pulling on the harness a bit I was able to get two different posts to light up at different times, as in when up was pressed on the passenger switch from the driver control one post would light, same if pressing down on another post. I plugged the harness back together and ran a test light on the wires going to the passenger motor and sure enough they had power, but the window didn't move. I could feel the motor click when pressed but it didn't roll the window. Checking the harness again I had no power when the button was pressed but if I pulled on the harness again it would light up. I know I have a short in that harness somewhere, I pulled the carpet back a little to see but everything is pretty well taped up and secured, what could be causing this?

Does the GP have a connector right by the door for the harness or is it wired directly to the interior of the car? I know the Regals have connectors right inside the body of the car and those pins might be corroding etc, may need to be reseated as they can push out when you reconnect.

Also the wiring inside the rubber boot gets bent continually and can/will break and cause shorts. Had a Regal with a totally dead rear driver door. 5 of 7 wires were broken.

The harness in the door plugs into connectors coming out of the frame. The harness running into the frame then runs down into another harness. Wiggling those harnesses is where the short seems to be, not in the harness in the door. That's alot of wire to check for a short. Does the power go to the driver side switch then to the passenger? I can't imagine why there would be an issue on the drivers side since it hasn't been touched but something is causing intermittent power along the light blue and light brown wire coming out of the vehicle frame.

Tough to say on a short. I'd start off with where it may have wiggled/moved when you did the door. As for the window circuit...you want to look at that to understand how it work.s

Seems the connectors inside the plug that goes into the window motor were bent out so it wasn't making a good connection. I couldn't figure out an easy way to bend them back so I just cut the plug off and spliced in the one from the other harness and it works fine so far. I was holding the motor in my hand flipping the window switch and when I tilted the motor it quit. I wiggled the wire and it stopped and started. Compared the two plugs and noticed the difference. Still doesn't explain why I wasn't getting any power at all from the frame harness at different times, perhaps it was tripping the circuit breaker when the connection shorted back and forth.
