Depends on the battery, some are 1 year free, after that prorated.
Basically same type of deal as a warranty on tires.

I am about to pull the trigger on a deal at Advanced Auto Parts lol.

    Optima Yellow top- Regular price $190 - 25% = $143.24

The battery has a 3 year free replacement with a prorate after that.

Our Caterpillar batteries are 3 year free replacement. If your battery takes a crap all you need to do is bring it in, we test it and if its bad you get a new one. The replacement battery carries the warranty from the original battery. If you buy one on 1/1/10 and bring it in now, your replacement will have the warranty from 1/1/10

I bit the bullet and went to Napa and bought a new battery. I didn't even pay attention to the brand of the old battery, I just saw that the sticker on it showed the manufacture date was 12/08. The new battery I bought from Napa has a 7 year (I think) warranty, with 2 years free repalcement, the last 5 years are prorated. I got a decent deal on it I guess, after my military discount and core charge refund I think I paid like 85 bucks for it or something.

Where you guys been, even the Energizer Maxx battery at Walmart has a 3 year replacement - 7 year (some battery types longer) prorated warranty. I haven't used the battery in a Grand Prix or Regal, but I used an Energizer Maxx battery in a 98 Expedition. The first one only lasted 2 years and was replaced for free. The replacement battery lasted about 6 years (which was longer than the crap battery ford put in from the factory. When the replacement battery went, it sat on the sidewalk hot for about a week. My friend and I were quite surprised it took that long for it to cool. I hate Walmart and try to steer clear of them for everything, but for $77 (Maxx-65N for an Expedition) , I'll use their battery. One problem which could be the vehicle or the battery was it had alot of white crap around both battery posts. I would clean it off, but it would come back in a few months.

If I were to get another type, I'd get an AcDelco factory replacement (think I remember is Gel) which is what is in the 98 Regal (besides the factory battery, this is only the second battery in the car) or an Optima battery (Gel) if I were running a large sound system like I did in my Grand Prix.

The AcDelco might be gel but Optima batteries are not. They are AGM spiral cell batteries.
