Well i finally got enough money together to get something done on my car.So i decided a tuneup would be the start.I got the nice iradium AC DELCO sparkplugs,AC DELCO premium wire set,and also a new ignition coil.Im not mechanically inclined so i had some guys i know that works on cars to come over and do it.Man it took the poor dude and his son 4 hours to do this. The main reason is the sparks were so old when they pulled the front three they were so rusty they just broke into pieces.I swear these are probably the original or close to original sparkplugs(car has 212k miles).Well come to find out the fronts were the easy part, the back three were gonna be the real nightmare. They were so covered up by hoses, brackets, and bad angles almost impossible to get to.The very last one took almost 2 hours to get off because it is so buried at a bad angle behind an o2 sensor(why in the world). And apparently the sockets that fit the first 5 sparks did not fit the last one behind the sensor. So he had to go and buy a deep socket that fit it.At one point i actually thought they were gonna give up.But they finally succeeded.Next up is the fuel filter, should be easier.I plan on spraying some rust inhibitor under and around that area, and we plan on patching a small rust hole that has developed.I have alot of other things that need to be done but feel free to suggest what should be next.

probably should have told you this. but you could have taken the dog bones off and rocked the motor forward. would have gave you a few more inches. should have warmed the motor up also ( i would have anyway) to help with the rusted plugs. oh well, at least thats done. How does she run after the tune up?

it probably took me close to an hour, maybe less. I just jumped on top of the motor and showed them plugs who's boss lol. you just have to know where to put your arm in the back, its actually easy to get to when you find the sweet spot.

Well i had read about the rocking the motor forward.Forgot it at the time.It appears to be running somewhat better, more steady.I think once the fuel filter is replaced that should help too.I mean seriously those spark plugs were so rusty my friend said he was surprised it ran at all.To be fair on the four hours, these guys had to deal with horrible sparkplugs,no knowledge of the motor rocking(which would have really helped)Also the guy had his son trying to do alot of it to teach him so process slowed down...and oh yeah mostly done in the dark as we had just one small flashlight.I still have to get that rack and pinion done, want to get a vacuum test, compression test done. And especially want to get the suspension stuff done(as there is not much of that left on mine haha).Still need to get the fuel level sensor done and thinking i should replace the fuel pump.

Fuel pump is a snap on our cars I can talk you through it but new they cost $300.00 but if its not giving you a problem why change it?

Wow i remember the first time I did my plugs. Oh what a nightmare! Once you learn the tricks it's much easier. Also if you get all those engine brackets out of the way it makes it way easier too!
