Special editions, lmited editions, and 40ths are about the only noteworthy appearance differences. Engine wise 04+ is better for a few reasons. Trans sucked for 97's

none, besisde the 03 got the hardend 4th gear shaft and a different valve body. Otherwise the motor is the exact same from 97-03.

'05+...because plenty of '04 cars still got the plastic intake gaskets and not the metal ones.

Somewhere in those years there was a change from a butt ugly steering wheel to a less nasty one.

I think that changed in 01. The older steering wheels had the really fat volume control and just looked gawky. Also the rims were different from 01+. They got the twisted torque star rims instead of a flat face 5 star.

True true, 04's were all kinda frankenstiened with old rods and plastic lim gaskets. Hit or miss...

Rims started in 99 for the torque stars and there were a few other less attractive wheels in there somewhere too like the cross laces and snowflakes

01+ have a weird way of deleting the rear o2 sensor

Most differences are trim package/ option related which changed year to year.

2000 was the last year for the Auto Dual Climate Control. The air bag changed in 2003 as well.
