Thread: the windshield wiper fluid,and quick revisit of low coolant sensor?

As many of you have found out i have a lot of questions,but i must say reading this forum and getting your great knowledge has helped a total noob to car workings.This 97 grand prix as im finding out has so many interesting issues,somewhat frustrating,but with the help this forum provides keeps me positive.Ok on to the questions. First i noticed the other day that i am not getting any windshield fluid when i press the button,the wipers do their thing,but no fluid.At first i thought maybe empty but upon looking it is completely full.I did notice that the little hose on top was not attached to anything on the other end(as picture shows).There is a second hose coming from the bottom of washer container,and this hose is hooked up to a piece with a blue tab(im guessing this is some sort of pump/motor.I did notice that the top of this pump/motor had a spot for a hose so i thought maybe it was for the end that was not connected,so i hooked it up.But no fluid came out.Any ideas on this? The other question is just a follow up on an earlier low coolant sensor question i have.Ive decided it would be best not to replace it,id rather just pull it.Will any coolant leak out if i leave the sensor out?will i need to reset anything?i dont think i need to unplug battery(i read sparkys writeup on replacing) And lastly please look at the picture i took,im pretty sure the black box looking thing on the radiator is the sensor.

If you pull the low coolant sensor, you will have a leak. If you want to unhook just pull the wire harness.

From what ive been reading most people that had to replace the low coolant sensor it still made the light blink or go off.Anyone replace one sucessfully shutting off the light?

As far as the pump making sound,it did not appear to make any(although the wipers were working fine).If it is a fuse where is that fuse located.I see the fuse box under the hood. Is there another one?

I see people referring to low coolant sensor, but kinda talking about low washer fluid sensor. Just for clarity, which one are you referring to as they are two different sensors and I have never seen my low coolant light flash, but have seen low washer fluid flash.

Definately the low coolant light.The radiator is full,the overflow is full.There have been a few threads up here and if you do a google search of the low coolant sensor issue there are alot of others that seem to have the same issue..Theres a few how to change the sensor on the internet (sparkys answers) but from what ive seen replacement doesnt resolve the light being on.Anyway im thinking im just gonna unplug it.

Well i read my manual and figured out where the other fuse box is.The manual does diagram what fuses i have and what they control,but i dont see which fuse controls the windshield pump.

so the wipers are working,so the fuse must be good.possibly is the pump?i dont have a volt checker so will have to take to a friend to see.
