I picked up my gasket kit and assorted other goodies to do this job this weekend ('04 GT2). I've been looking around for a while for a good how-to on this, and haven't found much. I did find a video, but would really like a written one if one exists. Does anyone know of one? I know it's been covered a lot, but I just find bits and pieces scattered all over.

Unplug everything in your way, pull fuel rail and. Injectors, supercharger bolts..pull blower off, more bolts underneath, pull off lim. Your gonna dump a ton of coolant into the motor. Clean surfaces, make sure your not pushing any gunk into your injector holes. Replace gaskets and re assemble. Pretty easy. Make sure everything gets plugged back in. Starts for about 2 seconds to get all the coolant into the pan. Shut off, change oil. Starte and check for leaks. Done and done

Doesn't sound too bad. I've done two other intakes before (2000 GA with 3.4L, 1999 Dodge Ram 5.9L) and they both sucked balls. Just from looking at this one it looks a lot simpler. Hopefully looks are not deceiving.

Just make sure you keep all your bolts situated and take a lot of random pictures at different views of the engine area. I just did mine a couple weekends ago and im glad i took the pictures as when i was reassembling, i had a few things that i wasnt sure where they went until i checked out the picture before tear down... Well that and the help of Brandonl2000 over the phone. Definitely give yourself enough time to complete the job. I did mine outside and lost daylight and i was only half way done. That was just an extra kick in the nuts... along with the plastic vac lines snapping everytime i touched them.

First time i did anything involved with it... Definitely will keep it in mind now for future reference. Wasnt to bad though as advance auto parts is right down the street from me and they had the vac lines available.

Can't you pull out thermostat, stick a wet vac in the housing, suck up all the coolant, then drain coolant through lower rad hose and avoid dumping a ton in the motor?

You can..but that's a lot of work. As long as you crank it over when done and change oil life is good

Alright, I have my permadry gasket set, coolant elbows from the dealer (guy at O'Reilly's recommended that I get them from the dealer b/c the Dorman ones tend to leak), 2 gallons of "Mixes with any color" antifreeze, a jug of Mobil 1 0W30, and an oil filter. I think I'll get started on this tonight.

Is there a drain petcock on the radiator somewhere, or do you have to pull the lower radiator hose? Do you have to do anything with the EGR valve to get it apart? Other than that it looks like it'll be pretty simple.

Don't pull the lower hose. You'll lose some from pulling the upper. And just take the egr off. And some rtv never hurt anyone on the end of the elbows

I've got it down to the LIM now-- I have all of the bolts out and it absolutely refuses to move. I can't get it off. Any tips?

Figured it out. Two hidden bolts, extra hidden by being submerged in oil.

    On what??? lmao!

On a side note, I'm going to be doing this as well soon (hopefully within the next month depending on weather).

The vac lines mentioned... can anyone provide more info? I don't remember reading anything about losing vac lines in the process.
