Okay, here's the deal. My ignition key wouldn't come out of the ignition switch (about 2 months ago) without pushing the manual release under the steering column. So i removed the park lock solenoid from the steering column. Okay, so things have been going fine until recently. The trip computer and HVAC controls will intermittently black out and the fan will stop and will come back on by themselves or if I play with the fan switch. Pretty annoying when it is 20 degrees in the mornings and you need heat. Anyway, I was searching some threads about the trip computer/HVAC power going out issue when I realized that sometimes it is the ignition switch contacts that may be causing the intermitten power loss. Could this also be the cause of the park lock solenoid not working?

As I was just in a PM with Bill for the ignition switch and all the reading I have been doing for the last 10 days about the same switch, I would change it for the cost and then eliminate that from the equation. For a $100.00 at Rock Auto it eliminates so many things that a bad switch can cause. I knew mine was bad as the car would not even start with the key anymore so it was a no brainer for me.
