I've only had my GP GT since May so I haven't seen how it runs in cold weather. Tonight was really chilly and when I started my GP the RPM flew to 1100-1500 RPM at idle.

I just wanted to know this is normal?

yeah. when my GTP first starts on a cold day it usually begins idle at 1300 or so and then works its way down. it's just the IAC raising the idle for how cold it is. as long as it idles down after a few minutes and levels out you're good.

Alright, thanks. I'll take it for a quick spin in a few. My car had a MAF problem not too long ago(replaced twice) so I was worried it was symptoms of that problems returning.

Oh and my sunroof went to **** again Brandon ...I guess the grease worked its magic and wore off. I'll save money during the winter to get it fixed but what do you think i'm looking at price-wise?

Hmm, well I know it's pretty normal to idle high at first. Mine starts up then WHOOSHES up to high RPM. When I first got the car I was like erm, is that a problem lol.

But man that sucks!! I'm sorry to hear it. Unfortunately I can't guestimate any prices for you I've never had to fool with it I'm sorry bro. Please keep us posted though on your findings.

did it kick down to a normal idle or did it stay high?

all cars have a high idle

if you ever hear a older car start up cold, then the person taps the gas and the car settles into a normal lope

I just went around the neighbourhood. It stayed at 1100 for a bit at stop signs, then 1000, then 750 in the drive-thru. I think i'm ok.

oh yeah you're fine. like i said just as long as it does idle back down when it gets warm. mine usually take 10 minutes or so to fully warm up. now that i have an oil pressure gauge i kinda use it to tell if it's completely at low idle or not. tis neat.
