Thread: HID's quit working. any ideas?

they worked fine on the way to work. later that night, nothing at all. is there something i should look for when i check them out? also, anyway of testing to see if its the ballast or the bulb? i still have my stock bulbs so those will have to go in for now. any ideas?

double check all the wiring, a bit odd that both would go at the same time like that

Don't know how often it would happen, but could be a possibility that the headlight switch is gone.

where are the fuses in this kit? in the ballast? i have the wire harness if that matters.

without seeing your harness or knowing which one it is...I am going to go out on a limb and say they are probably in close proximity to the relay and both are probably hear the battery connection end of the harness.

and I agree it definitely seems to me that its a harness issue since they both went out at the same time.

Can you hear the ballast attempt to power up?? I am having an issue with one of my HIDs. After much swapping around and testing, I found that a bulb is near the end of its life.

did you get the HID from ebay? might be the ballast burn out happen to me.

if you guys would read his thread he eludes to BOTH of them going out at the same time...the odds of both ballasts or both bulbs burning out at the same time vs a fuse or relay knocking them out really very very slight.

It was a simple question. Better to start small and then work your way up. For all you know the fix could be a simple flash of the brights while the car is running to help power jump to the ballasts. Wouldnt be the first time this has happened.

you know you made no sense there right!

maybe you should have suggested the high beam thing the first time...not in reply to me saying the ballast (single) isn't the problem

Better to start out with a suggestion that might actually make some sense rather than telling him to check something that isn't going to be the cause of the current problem he's having.

can you post pics of the harness you used? Did you find the problem yet...also if you check the fuses in the harness and they are good check your ground wire and positive wire connections as well.

wow forgot about this thread. i got them working again. i bought a new harness off ebay, the old one was corroded pretty bad and one of the prongs on the fuse box broke off. i wish i would have gotten the upgraded harness, this ebay one is tiny. oh well it works, thanks guys

well glad to hear you got them working again...I am waiting for my harness to come in...sometime this week.
