it matters. in the end it will be worth the cost and work of a topswap.

easiest thing to do is to do a full motor and trans swap with the PCM and wiring harness to complement it.

any of the other combinations you NEED to get your car tuned.

Motor swap isn't a top swap. neither is trading your car.

Cost depends on what you want to do.

New balancer or used balancer. They're starting to age and fail.

Reman heads or used heads. You can get screwed here or be wasting money.

Gen III vs Gen V blower.

    Stock TB vs N* setup.

    Headers vs Stock manifolds.

Cheap and slower or pricey and faster.

You can easily be at or above the cost of a used/new turbo kit by the time you're said and done.

    Why?

There are no benefits to it, only downsides.

Tops swaps have to be done right or not at all.

To be frank, it very well might be easier to change the heads versus the motor and transmission.

But then finding a tuner might be difficult.

I'm gonna have to disagree and say it's easier to swap a motor and trans vs ripping your motor down and putting it all back together.

And OP...if you're really going for power, a turbo will outperform an M90 all day long.

Most people dont have a cherry picker in their garage. But a fair number have a basic socket set.

And thats all you need to swap heads.

why to have to be so specific. top swap, motor swap, or trading all have one thing in common......supercharger. i know what a top swap is. title should have been..."how did you go about supercharging" i guess

I bought a motor that spun a bearing for $200. Took it apart and sent the heads to the machine shop, ended up being cracked. Got another set, still waiting to hear. Ported the SC myself, and all the other parts besides wiring harness are in the garage since I have the other motor. I wouldn't rush into it, just gather the parts slowly

that could be misleading, did you have full equal coverage on both cars? i had collision and liabilty on my 98 GT, that was significantly more then just having liablity on my 99 GTP

Purchased a modded LIM and a Blower, and injectors. Tuned the PCM and put it on.... Still on the stock GT heads.

    its called the SSM90 kit.

    And its grossly overpriced.

    http://zzperformance.com/grand_prix/articles1.php?id=69

Skip it and get a Z3 kit, 1.9's and a TEP trans.

Its very disheartening that you focus on that rather than anything else I posted.

ZZP has a kit that modifies the LIM to accept injectors and uses an offset pulley to use only on belt. It is expensive and doesn't give you much room to drop on pullies if that's your plan.

3.4 is as low as they go now. I got one of the last 3.25 pulleys they produced. But swapping over to a GTP belt setup isnt out of the question.
