Ok I found a few threads about this but I just want a second opinion about this. This has been happening for a while and its more of an issue now as it happens about everyday instead of one or twice a month. I did have a worn ignition switch a few months ago but I put a bypass relay in and now my DIC, fan speeds, and defroster now work. But now I'm thinking its a problem....

About everyday now when I go to start the car... it just clicks. I hear the relay in the dash click but the starter doesn't even try to turn. Now if I keep turning the key to try and start it sometimes it only takes a 2-5 times if I'm lucky but sometimes it takes about 50-100 turns to start and when it does there isn't even hesitation. So..... do you think its the ignition switch? or the trigger wire? Or maybe the solenoid itself?

Test the soleniod wire at the starter, if you have no crank and a test light shows power, replace the starter. If you get no power check the trans swtich to ensure it see's part (depends on year) then replace ign switch.

So if it is the starter... Would it be just the solenoid or replace the whole starter? I have no clue if its the original starter or not but it does have 170k miles on it.

It's tougher to find a soleniod these days.

Why don't you do the test and let us know what you found.
