Sh!t Luck! LOL
A pretty good story:
Our 2nd vehicle was a 97 Caravan that was on it's last legs. It got me to work and back and I was gonna drive it until it died. One day a coworker told me that he was selling his 2nd vehicle, a 2001 Grand Prix, and wondered if I, or anyone I knew was looking. I joked that my van could die any day but until it did I was going to keep driving it. As luck would have it, I left for home that night and 1 block later, at a stop sign I heard the most godawful sound. It was the tranny. I pushed it back into the work parking lot and got a ride home.
Next day I found my coworker and said; You jinxed me! Still have that car for sale? After work and went and had a look and his GP turned out to be a GTP! Absolutely clean vehicle and it even had the sunroof. 190K Km (120K miles) on it - not bad. I took her for a spin and was hooked! I did have a look to see what else was available but the price was right and I didn't see anything else that came close.
I was also sold on the 3800 engine having owned an 87 Olds Royale Brougham and a 92 Olds Park Avenue.
The car has been rustproofed every year and has had impeccable maintainence and I intend to keep it that way. Hopefully for many years to come! The only other owner was a GM executive who drove it for the first year. It's a daily driver but will only will get 10K Km (6800 miles) or so a year on it. Thinking about some mods but not until spring rolls around.
Now I have a 2nd vehicle that I actually LIKE to drive. No more trying to wrestle the keys to the Jeep away from the wife.

I got a Monte Carlo instead because they aren't ugly and there are less of them. lol
Muahahahhaahhahahaha!
I got mine because it was the only 3800 powered vehicle on the showroom floor in 2007. Had two previous cars with the 3800 and no engine problems so why not get a brand new one that will last me a long time.
To me, a Grand Prix isn't a choice, but rather, it's a condition. I've had a GP since before I had my license, and am on my third consecutive generation with my '99. Still have the one I had in high school. I always loved the '77-'78 Trans Am and I've had a '93 and '94 that had the similar cat eyes look. When the previous body style came out in '97, I thought Pontiac had outdone themselves. I just think they're nice looking cars. I'm not a huge fan of the latest body style, but have seen a few that I actually like.
Had a 95 volkswagon jetta never got to drive it cause my dad got it for me and the tranny was junk and I was still in school so I couldn't pay to get it fixed, so I told that to my school year later my bf asked his grandfather what he was doing with his old car a 95 ford taurus, rusted out exhaust system broken doors so they wouldn't close sometimes or wouldn't open depending on the day, needed struts rack and pinion and well ect, its a ford we are talking about here, but he gave it to me for free, and I didn't want to drive it because it was a death trap and well wicked uncomfortable. But little did everyone know after or or on lunch breaks I was going and searching car lots hopeing to find a car, then I saw and 04 burnt orange grand prix and I was like holy **** that is one sexy beast, so I started looking them up and I liked the 97 to 03 body style and I searched until I found my 03 gt, I wanted a two door gtp but its like extinct in my area so did what I had to to get her!
after owning eight 99-02 mercury cougars, one as my DD always having to fix stupid crap on them and getting made fun of for driving a girls car, i was weeks away from dropping a 3.0l and a 5speed into it when i drove by a dealership and saw a 04 gp gt, for some reason it caught my eye.
went home and did my research (already knew about the 3800 and that it lasted forever) found i wanted a gtp with the comp g package,
so i sold my car and started searching craigslist, found one a good 250 miles away that was exactly what i wanted down to the color so i drove out and bought it.
the part i find funny is when i went to look at the car, i had a check in hand for a price we agreed on, the seller knew i was going to buy it and i had never even driven a 04-08 gp before let alone a gtp
