    hello All,
i own a 2001 Grand Prix with the 3.8 supercharged and Im usually doing most of the maintenance by myself, but I actually have two problems,
The first one is than all the lights of the central consol are working intermitemntly but most of the time never... and the AC is not working at all except in the "blast" position. Someone told me to change the ignition switch, but I wanted to be sure by asking you guys first.
second question, my A/C is not as cold as it was and I noticed than it was colder when the car was climbimg up hill and so, warmer down hill, I so deduct than I needed to put more refrigerant in the system, but can I do that with the R134 kit they are selling in the autoparts store ? if yes how ? if you had pics it will be just great

    Many thanks in advance

    Seb

well the lights in the console could be a bad bulb or a bad ground where the bulb is mounted. your going to have to open up the console to get to the bulbs to check them.

the a/c, yes you could recharge it with a can from pep boys or where ever but if its gotten warm, it has a leak, best to let a shop take care of it if your not to handy or familiar with a/c work, a/c parts cost a fair amount of money alone.

and the fan only working on high speed should be the fan motor resistor. there's a how to here, search for it, it should come up.

so in a nut shell, i don't think its the ignition switch.

Thanks, I know it is not a bulb, the panel with the car info is on and off or just dimer, the radio too.
For the resistor I looked everywhere but I couldn't find the thread or the HowTo, I ll continue to look tomorrow.

you left that part in in the first post, i think i've read the ignition switch could cause that then. im no electrical type guy but i think some people do a by pass, and that fixes the problems. and i cant seem to find jack on it right now.
