    Well, my so-called friend managed to break my passenger side power locking mechanism on the first day I had the car. Is there any quick way to fix it, or do I have to buy the $300 kit from GM?

    the key lock itself? the part that unlocks on the interior? the handle? The part that actually holds the door shut? the solenoid?

    which part?

    I think it's the solenoid. It won't unlock/lock when I press the button, so I have to reach over and unlock it manually. The door locks, but it won't lock electrically.

    How do you figure a door lock actuator is $300? maybe 75 at the most....IF that's what the problem is.

    Can you HEAR anything in the door when you press the lock/unlock button? Sometimes it's as simple as reattaching the link rod...

    What was your "friend" doing to actually break it?

    That's why I'm wondering. It's not like you can actually get to it without tearing the door apart....and if you're doing that in my car........

    have you tried Ed Morad? I am sure he has plenty for cheap....
