Well the time has come to sell the gp. I inherited my grandma's 2010 Lexus RX350. Only has 4300 miles on it. How much should I try to get out of the gp? It's basically stock besides appearance. Has dual 3.5" chrome tips, debadged, custom painted interior. Has brand new tie rod ends, sway bar endlinks, both front hub assemblies, starter, battery, and HUD windshield. I stopped putting money into it once I realized how bad the rust was getting. Michigan weather blows. The rear strut mounts area is so badly rusted I can see through it. It runs and drives great. I've been getting offers for $2200-$2600. Is that a fair price?

Couple things to keep in mind when determining a selling price for a car.

Modifications, cosmetic or otherwise, do NOT increase the value of the car. In fact, if anything, they usually DECREASE the value, because now you have taken the generic, mass produced product that everyone is familiar with, and tailored it to your personal taste. Unless you find someone who likes basically the same exact modifications that you've done to the car, it will usually HURT the value.

Repairs never count towards the value of a car. Unlike a house, a car is NOT an investment, meaning any money spent on keeping the car operating properly is just money down the drain from a financial standpoint.

And the rear struts mounts rusting that badly.....I'm sure you know that's extremely not good. Given all this, I'd say if you can get $2,600 for it, I'd take it in a heartbeat and be done with it.

97 with I'm guessing pretty high mileage $2600 is a fantastic deal on your end.

Body has 169,000 miles on it. Rebuilt motor around 20k.. I was askin 3000 obo. That way i could work down from a high amount. And yes, after I discovered the bad rust, I stopped putting money into it. It's been an amazing car while I had it and will miss it.

id sell the lexus too, insurance and repairs on a 2010 car and just proper maintenace in itself is always more with speical fluids and such and it being a lexus. Then buy a nice car and play car with all the monies.

    Thats just my thoughts.

I have thought about selling it. Insurance is raping me with this thing, I might cruise with it for awhile and get rid of it. not sure what I'd get next. Prolly just something nice and rust free and save the rest for a rainy day. Did always wanna turbo my bike?

And I'm happy bout it cuz my grandparents were very successful in there lifes. Both were hardworking and never spent a dime on themselves but for everyone else. And for her and him I should say to go out and buy expensive car with their hard earned money, I'm very happy for them. Yeah it sucks and I miss them both terribly but its life. Everyone dies, and if she was still around, I couldn't thank her enough for this gift. She knew I struggle to pay bills, raise my 3 year old on my own, and make house payments. And to get rid of a car that I couldnt keep up with, by giving me hers. I will always be thankful for that.
