I noticed this morning that my 1997 Grand Prix with a 3800 nonsupercharged engine had the service engine light on. It began making an odd air sucking noise and clicking sound when it idled. I also smelled gas when the air conditioner was on. Any ideas what it could be?

Well went to Autozone to get the code read and there was a Throttle Position Sensor code and a code P1870 code twice. The P1870 code is for the transmission and it says the transmission has low fluid and has trouble shifting. It does have trouble shifting but it has the right amount of fluid. I had previously purchased a filter for the Transmission so I will replace that tomorrow or monday. I replaced the sensor and the "check engine" light is still on. Any ideas?

is it idling better? the code needs to cycle out take like 50 miles of driving or so, or you can go back to auto zone and have them clear it with their scanner.
