So Im a hot rodder at heart, and its time to get rid of the ol mini van and get into a sedan. Two of my 4 kids have graduated, and moved out HooRay!!! I have decided on a Grand Prix, (not sure which one yet.) But I wanted to ask you fine people, what should I look out for? Is there any years that are better than others? I like the idea of the GTP with the comp G package, and i want to be below 75000 miles, and would like to hot rod it up a little bit. Currently the year of the car doesnt matter. Please help me make an educated decision. Thanks...Kevin

If your a hot rodder maybe you should also think about a GXP, big engine in a relatively small car. Thats what my GF drives and its a blast

How much is a bit? With the GXP, it's easy to do headers and a large cone intake filter and call it a day (literally, a day of modification).

With a GTP, it'll be slower than a stock GXP until you wind up doing something along the lines of headers, and cam. An intercooler would get you well over. Or head work.

Then again, you could take off the supercharger (or buy a 04/05 GT package) and turbo it (I'd say a solid turbo setup would go for around $10k, depending on what kinds of deals you can get) and that would be faster than either and be slightly more unique.

Regardless, I'd say to go with the 2004+, if for nothing other than a nicer interior.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

Id say go for a G8 if you have the money.

I absolutely would like a GXP, or a G8 But they are just a little outside my price range for the car I want.
