i hope i'm not wasting my time by posting this problem, but i've seen this problem unanswered so many times but here i go...

2000 GTP....Car was parked all winter, DIC worked before parking it...had the battery out for 5 months and now it (dic) wont work. The "Trac off" light and "low trac" lights work but the display does not light up nor do the 3 buttons on the left side. the HVAC controls work fine as well as the heated seat.

i read earlier that the wires to the pcm tend to rub on the condensor in the engine bay and have caused problems to the DIC....i'm not on any other forums so i dont know if any other forum have an answer to this problem...

Any suggestions would be great, please help and thx in advance!

ignition switch. does the head lights cut out too along with the hvac? mine does this too when i turn the hvac on but when i turn it off everything come back on. wierd thing is that i pulled out my DRL fuse out cuz it is annoying having my lights on 24/7 and i figured awe what the hell, and turned the a/c on and it works.

nope...drl and hvac work fine....they have never not worked...nothing cuts out at all....just the dic not displaying.

*NOTE* - i forgot to mention that i put all new bulbs (used bulbs from another dic i have but verified they worked before installing) and i've wiggled all the wiring behind the dic, stereo, and HVAC, also wiggled the wiring harness behind the glove box and in car fuse panel hoping it was a faulty wire but no luck.i haven't tried wiggling the ignition wires tho....maybe if i wiggle the ignition harness it'll work or at least flash on for a second so i know im in the right spot with the problem...

Well another way to do it is find the wring diagram for the dic and see where else the wirings is tied into and test between those circuits, either with test lamp just to see if there is power or with a voltmeter to see if there is an open or a short some where in the wiring. It could be that there was a weak spot in a wire and when you put the battery back in and sent power through the car again it burnt the wire and you have an open. Just something to consider

Yea I have the same exact problem with my DIC. I bought the car a month ago with it not working and I found out it wasn't plugged in so I did and found out the same lights do not work. Replaced the bulbs with #24 bulbs and the LCD backlight still doesn't light up. Switched the bulbs with ones that do light and same issue.

Before I took it apart the LCD worked as I could barely see the info but it worked. Now the LCD isn't even turning on. My only solution now is to replace the whole thing.

haha.... I did the Ignition switch bypass mod and it fixed the DIC, Rear defrost issue, DRL, and my blower fan speeds. So it was the ignition switch that was the problem but I just decided to do the bypass mod and its fine now. I have the screen and all working on the DIC.

Its at the ClubGP forums. Search for Ignition Saver Mod. It basically takes all the high current out of the ignition switch and routes it through a relay.

Didn't know if I was allowed to post links to other forums. The DSM (Eclipse) forums I was in for so many years didn't allow them so wasn't sure. haha

Well....finally some resolution to this thread, i have finally fixed my dic.

I had a couple days off so i decided to tear the dash out of my car and start chasing wires and checking fuse panels incase a wire fell out or broke...anyways this is dash out (day 1)...

so i chased each wire into each harness inside the cabin, checked where they plugged into the fuse panel and all was good, tight and no breaks in wires.i even started a thread to find out how many live wires should run to a working DIC but got no replies....i figured if someone had 5 live wires to a working dic then i would concentrate on a certain wire but there only supposed to b 4 live wires to the dic (which i had). so i took the dic apart while still plugged into the car so the bulbs were exposed...now i had my test light grounded to the frame of the car and started touching the circuits inside the dic with the test light (i was just frustrated and bored at this point which is why i started poking at the dic with the test light).

BAM...all of a sudden i touched a point on the circuit board and the dic lit up but didn't display any numbers....so i brought the dic inside my house and tore it apart...to find this...

a resistor or some thing of the sort on the corner of the dic burned up causing the DIC not to work.....So a long story ; short .... my DIC was defective , i assumed it was fine and the problem was wiring

Day 2 - Ran to the junkyard today, got one and it now works...installed my dash and everything now works....sucks that i took the entire dash out but gave me a chance to install the HUD, that the car didn't have for some odd reason.

From hindsight, I wish I would have taken my dash out to do the HUD install. Trying to make the cuts and not hit the windshield was a major PITA. Don't even get me started on the mess.
