I was wondering if a tranny from a 98 bonneville with the 3800 would fit in my GP. Started slipping here and there when excelerating harder. So if it would I was gonna swap trannys then rebuild the GPs trans and then put that one back in.

Suppose I could have scrolled down about another quarter of a page and seen that there is a transmission spot...... Man I love mornings. 9 day weekends gonna help.
I thought the car was gonna go bye bye... kenny?
BTW,...I'll reiterate. The chain and drive/driven gears are the same in all 4T65E's that came in NA cars. They only differed from the HD 4T65e's found in the SC'd cars.
The way to change gear ratio between two NA or non HD transmissions is to swap out the differential. Quick and easy to do.
Using a bigger body car transmission, watch out on the converter. The larger car is likely to have a 258mm torque converter in the nonHD trans, the W body cars would have had 245mm converters. Therefore you may need to swap the flexplate or torque converter as well.
I forget if my swap says pull subframe first. But if you do..then everything else is easy to unhook.. just remember..the drivetrain is above ya.
One of my friends has a lift if you'd want to make everything easier? We buy him beer and he's happy![]()
