Hey, I have to replace my bearings over the weekend. What is the torque value for the bearing nuts?

GM spec is 159ft/lbs. But if it says different on the new hub, go with that.

Or just push the ever loving hell out of your breaker bar.

Bearing nuts? Are you talking about the bolts to hold the bearing in the aluminum casting?

The axle nut is 180 ft. lbs. if you're talking about that. It's the important one since too much torque puts undue side load on the roller bearing.

I'm having problems with my ABS activating and TCS light sometimes coming on at slow speeds, especially with the wheels turned. Had a coupon for a free service at the local former Pontiac dealer, and they told me the left front hub was worn or damaged, causing the speed sensor to short out and trigger the ABS.

Questions: 1) Dealer didn't cite a part number; are we talking about Timken 513179? 2) The car has 123,000 miles, and these have never been replaced. Is it worth doing both, or should I just replace the bad side?

    Thanks,

    Eric

Believe it or not, they were Timken. Even got a set directly from the manufacturing plant (they are about an hour from me). They were all under warranty except the first set, but I still had to replace them.

PS... I'm not the OP :P
