    Hello. I currently own an 02 Grand Am, but its been sitting for awhile. Depending on how the car looks once I get the funds to get it up and running regularly, I might be looking to buy a another car. The Pontiac Grand Prix GTP looks like an excellent vehicle. Its damn fast for the money, looks good, and shouldn't be terrible to repair when the time comes being domestic.

    My main question: What should I expect reliability wise? I won't go over 120,000 miles, and I prefer to stick as close to 100,000 miles as possible and hopefully find a well maintained example. How much life should I be expecting from one of these? Do they have a lot of problems? I understand that the whole forced aspiration thing won't help matters.

    I bought mine in 05 with 79k on the clock for $6,100. It currently has 171k on it and has never left me stranded. Original motor and trans. I've seen several members with cars over 200k miles.

    Only re-occuring issues i've had is my windshield wipers like to park in the upright position after using them in icy conditions. It causes a little metal tab to get bent. Easy fix. Just annoying. A\C was out when i bought it in 05 and it now has quit again 5-6 years later. And my windshield wipers also lost the intermittent speeds it tends to park in the middle of the windshield due to a bad motor\control board. Easy fix just need to replace it.

    Other than that I can't really complain. They are pretty easy to work on. They are by far the fastest car I've ever owned and funnest.

    Thanks man! If I do end up in the market and I can find one available, I'll definitely snatch one up. Oh and, they didn't fix the wipers in 02 either.

    I guess $5,000 or less for a ~100,000 mile or less model isn't too unreasonable after all.

    Ya try to find one that hasn't been modded. Sometimes people do stupid things without researching. Like putting the smallest pulley you can on the supercharger without having the supporting modifications for it. If it has a smaller SC pulley on it and you don't see headers or a custom downpipe\ manifold setup on it, I wouldn't buy it.
