Soo i finaly got my ZZP 3" downpipe in but I cant get the rear gasket to seal up. I can feel the air escaping from the top and hear it. The only thing I can think of is I put it up on its hangers before I had it bolted down and that had it kinda pitched wierd. Any tips or does my therory on the fact that I had it up on the rear hangers because it pulled the DP higher than the resisnator. Sounds kinda crapy.

unbolt it from the cat back, and reinstall it trying to keep it as level as possible.

Mine did that a few times.

Get some copper RTV, and lay a bead on each side of the gasket. Smoosh it onto the DP, or the cat-back, and try and keep them nice and level (using jacks helps quite a bit)

And slowly tighten each bolt, going back and forth. That's the only way I could get mine to finally seal.

So copper RTV on top of the gasket is ok? After about an hour of me sitting there thinking the whole not level part was the only conclusion I could come to since it seemed a little pitched. Air is only leaking out the top. I tightend this s**t outta them too. Im gonna use you method and see where it gets me. As for now I just gotta drive it this way for atleast today. The exhaust deffinetly smells alot different without the cat tho. Well and exhaust leak

So I went at it again after work. My neighbor let me use a good impact and gave me a old seal off his RX7 and I doubled up the new one from zzp and that one. It seems to be better than before cant feel any air coming out but can still hear it esspecialy at startup. I think I may RTV it if it keeps pissin me off. Im not sure what i did wrong on this one. I wonde if its just a noise difference since Im catless now. Ill probably do the RTv thing tho

Yeah, RTV is great for PITA gaskets. I used it on both downpipe installs, and my header installs.

Hey my new gasket is already mushed a little on one side. RTV will clear that up no problem. Stupid NAPA said they had it last night drove there and it was outta stock.

The bigger issue is the flanges don't like up quite right. Make sure that the gasket covers the 3" hole and can seal the area. Otherwise you need a different gasket.

You know what I say about ZZP parts? "Expect to modify something, fitment isn't one of their strong points".
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Its the rear gasket thats gettin me here. I was also thinkin that me going for the ZZP gasket wasnt the best idea. Ill probably just go the RTV route and call it a day. Its better than in was when I doubled up the gasket with my neighbors old one. Still not how it hould be

Turned out to be a bigger leak at the front of the DP. The said bad gasket dont believe it I just dont think I got it tight enough. Then had to take it back the next day to have them do the rear they said it barely had a leak but they would replace it for free since they didnt do it the day before. Either way I still think there is a tiny tiny leak in the rear of the DP but I gave it my all and I can sit at a stoplight and not smell anything. Anyway if it gets bad again Im just getting the f***er welded
