I have a 98 gtp with over 200k on it, the whole care is in very bad shape but it has a decent running motor and a operational tranny. Not bad for the $100 investment. What i want to do with it is a complete engine teardown and rebuild so that i can have some solid ponies to put into my 2002 GT. Im not sure what i will have to do with the transmission i would like to keep the 02 tranny if possible but i do not know if the electrical will jive. At this point im just getting ready to pull the motor out of the donor car. I plan on sticking 5-7k into this motor after the rebuild and prolly a pcm tune. I want a better than new motor and plan on doing as much of the work on my own as possible. So far i think im going to make a valley pan, replace the oil pump, balance/polish the rods and crank prolly look into getting new rockers and at least grind the valves. Im not sure which rebuild "kit" i want to buy but everything mechanical needs to be in the like new or new condition. Other than that im not really sure where i want to go with this. I plan on making this one of those longer term learning projects. i have done hours of reading on this motor and i know there are many many possibilities for this motor, hoping some of you guys can get me pointed in the right direction.
