I have 3 lights on in the dash of a 97 GTP. The SRS Air Bag, ABS, and Brake lights are all on. I checked all the fuses and can't find any blown. It's my mothers car, and I'm trying to fix everything so she can get sell it. Fixed the water in the floor board, and both back windows, with help from here. Any ideas on the warning lights?

    Thanks Brian

The SRS airbag problem is due to a bad connection in the steering wheel airbag module from leaning down (too much weight) on the steering wheel over time. On a really hot day just disconnect the battery (and short out the plus and ground to discharge the whole electrical system) and then pound up on the bottom of the steering wheel (hub) and down on the outmost-top of the steering column with a rubber mallet the problem will go away. Alternatively disassemble the steering wheel (very complicated if you have the radio controls) and reseat the air bag module wiring connector (again, with the battery disconnected) it is on the top of the steering wheel hub.

If you have brake lights then most likely you have corroded (leaky ready to blow) rear brake lines - get them replaced IMMEDIATELY - JUST TOPPING Off the brake fluid is a BAD IDEA IT MAY temporarily turn the light off BUT they will blow on you, suddenly and drastically reducing stopping power. Corrosion causes the rear lines to (perforate) go first. If you are up around 150K on salted roads they are done. Most important don't follow anyone too close on the highway or count on a sudden panic brake to work!

The ABS problem may (merely) be related, worry about it later - get the brake lines checked first. Never fool around with the Brake light on these cars, if it's on you are lucky they still seem to work. Check the big engine vacuum hose on/to the brake booster too, make sure it's not loose on the manifold.

i drive a 98 regal and my air bag light is lit, would this apply to regals as well, and why on a hot day?

Usually having all 3 lights alit like that indicates a charging issue with the alternator.

Alternator is good. I'll check the brake lines. I'm also going to get it scanned on 05/16 to see if there are any codes. I'll try the mallet solution for the air bag along with disconnecting the battery. Thanks for the replies.
