Anyone familiar with xlerator turbo mufflers put out by goerlich? Can purchase them locally for a pretty good price. Any feedback is welcome.

sounds like knockoff mufflers and they'd be cheap for a reason.

They are actually pretty decent mufflers, magnaflow knock offs, we carry them at work.

I'd love to hear how they sound. My GP already has the resonator removed. Still has the stock mufflers in the back. I'm looking for a deeper sound. Think these will provide that?

Thanks for the advice. I had been considering trying a glasspack with the factory mufflers. I have a glasspack already. Think I should give it or go before trying the turbos.

Installed the glasspack last nite. Sounds a lot better. Not near as raspy as before. I still plan to install the turbos over the weekend. Hopefully this will give me the sound I'm lookin' for.

    More to come.

Regarding the OP question; I have used Goerlich XLerators on several cars over the years (my own and customer cars). I have only used them on '60s and '70s V8 applications.

They are VERY well built units with a deep tone. They flow much better than a turbo style muffler. They are a "straight-through" design, using a perforated stainless steel inner tube and densely packed (stainless steel and ceramic wool) case. They flow 96% to 99% of equivalent straight pipe flow rates.

Several videos on YouTube showing these on various cars, but primarily V8 muscle cars and late model trucks.

I know it doesn't help much, but here is a video of is how they sounded on my 71 GTO: YouTube - 71 GTO with Xlerator mufflers_0001.wmv

Very good info. Would love to hear these on a GTP. I am planning to try them soon. Decided against doing them this weekend. Will get done very soon. I really appreciate the input.

Quick update. Turbos installed. Could not be happier. Nice sound from these mufflers.

Less than $70.00 total. Installed them myself.

    Thanks for everyone's input.
