    alright here we go---
    Scavenging:
-exhaust gases released into the header pipe create a pressure wave
-as this pressure wave travels down the length of the header primary tube, it is generating a suction wave inthe pipe leaving a low pressure area in the combustion chamber
-as the pressure/suction wave exits the primary tube, a reflective pressure wave begins traveling back up the primary tube and can enter the combustion chamber as reversion

ok so your right scavenging and backpressure are not the same but reversion is the same thing as backpressure

i was pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
and decrease in weight is gonna be exponential. not direct multiplying. 20lbs out of your car isnt gonna be twice the difference between stock weight as 10lbs.
just like 200lbs isnt gonna be twice the difference as 100lbs.

redline, what your saying is that if i remove 1,000lbs of weight out of my car its only gonna be 1 second faster in the quarter, and if it was weightless it would still be in the 11's

No they don't. Why don't you actually google the term exhaust reversion and you will see how they are not one in the same.

Exhaust reversion is what makes big cam cars sound so lumpy at idle. It is essentially sucking air back in thru the exhaust. That is not the same as back pressure.

    ok here we go again
    Reversion:
-inefficient exhaust systems allow exhaust gasses to be bottled up in the cylinder.
-the amount of air/fuel intake charge that can enter the cylinder is reduced.
-higher cylinder pressures from incomplete exhaust blowdown can force burnt gases into the inlet tract during intake valve opening.
-"mean exhaust flow velocity" is then decreased, reducing maximum engine volumetric efficiency

that seems to be what back pressure is

Since I've had the car I've been getting 16-18mpg at best. I thought there was something wrong with that and that I should be getting more. So today for sh*ts and giggles I decided to un hook my battery so it could "reset" itself. Holy sh*t!! Im now getting 24mpg on the freeway doin about 80mph! Guess I should've known about that from the beginning.
Plus my intake used to make a crazy sucking sound at idle, no more sound either. Maybe this is just common knowledge and I didn't get the memo, but hopefully others will read this and improve their mpgs as well!? .......ooooor am I just crazy and im imagining this? Lol
If this is true I didnt get the memo either cause I got that sucking sound but hmm Im'a go un hook my battery

Thanx for answering my questions and correcting me......I think?? I don't care about the resonator, im not chopping it off. If u want to and thinks it helps, go for it. Im not knowledgeable enough to argue with all of you.
