Thread: Passenger Side front and back floorboards soaked... need help

was it raining? it could be the front cowl leaking by the outside bottom windshield.

is your car running hot, or stink like antifreeze?

is the wet floor slick feeling if you cant smell anything? it could be the heater core.

i guess if you were parked on a hill with the front higher than the rear it could get back there too.

its easy to fix, just unbolt the wiper arm on the pass side and pull the clips out of the plastic, its either the rubber weather stripping or the rubber liner that redirects the water from coming in the heater fan, its all clear once you open it up.

and on another note, if you lift the carpet there is a rubber plug that blocks off a drain hole in the front and rear floor, pop them out and try to prop up the carpet so it drys out or it will stink bad, and there is a ton of foam under it, try to squeeze out as much water as possible.

a couple of boxes of baking soda will help out too, just sprinkle it all over and rub it in, top of the carpet and the under side, then shop vac it out,(best if the baking soda is applied repeatedly) try not to use the home vacuum because the baking soda really kills vacuums, it sticks to everything and clogs up the vacuum.

car wash vacuums work well too.

good luck, wet interiors suck, i know because my whole car was in a flood, i had to remove everything from the seats to the carpet, no stink today and that was 6 months ago.

check your coolant level, if its low it could be the core, or it could just be wet still from the last time it rained. and wet rug will start to stink like a wet old dog. look into it fast.

The floor is extremely wet, you can see the wetness without touching the floor. More so in the front, but back is wet too. Thanks again!!

yes, if low could be the core, i would take the front seat out, pass side, lift the carpet and see what the fluid is. go from there.

and i would leave the rug propped up with sticks or what ever and point a box fan at the wet rug bottom to dry it, (maybe pull the back seat bottom to get more rug up, to dry it) baking soda will also kill off any odors, dont vac it up with a regular vac, use a shop vac if possible. baking soda can kill a house vac.

also while you have the rug up, run a garden hose over the windshield to rule out the cowl under the wiper blades.

if its leaking you will see water running down the front of the pass side fire wall on the inside, the floor will puddle up for sure.

and pull the rubber plugs in the floor to drain what you will have to squeeze out of the wet foam. theres 2, front and back.

Read that and buy the revised piece for less than 20 bucks, have your husband install it.

good job hunting it down, now make sure the carpet is dry or it will really start to stink on you. baking soda works wonders.
