Hello, I am trying to help out my son. He purchased a well maintained Supercharged GTP with 175K miles about 6 months ago. A few weeks back he had to crank it about 6 or 7 times to get it started, then last night it just failed to start at all. It cranks just fine, but acts like its starved for fuel.
There has been no changes or fixes to the vehicle since he has owned it. I did drive it yesterday and got on it a bit to see what kind of power it had, hope that did not do something.
I bypassed the fuel pump resistor as read in other post to rule that out, still no start. I am not hearing the fuel pump kick on but will check that again when i can have my son listen. I checked the fuel pump fuse, its good. Looking for some next steps advice, would bad relays cause the pump not to kick on? Are there any other test i can do to verify the pump is bad?

    Thanks for reading.

If he was having some problems before it completely quit it is probably the fuel pump. you gettin into it just probably made it go out about a week quicker but really you probably did him a favor because you probably kept the fuel pump from going out while driving.

I pulled the pump and ran some power to it, it turned on. I tested the connection at the pump - NO POWER. There are 2 relays for the pump, I put in 1 new relay, and tried each of the old relays in the combination - still no power at the pump. Anyone have any ideas? Guy at the parts store said some vehicles will cut the power to the fuel if the oil pressure switch is bad - anyone ever hear of this?

    Any suggestions are welcomed, thanks.

Could be a wire some where just start and the fuse and follow power to the pump and see where you lose it.

This sounds off the wall but is the security light flashing?

Originally the security light was not flashing.

I decided to plug the pump back into the wiring harnes outside of the tank, just to try something-anything. The pump turned on when i turned the key. I don't get it, so i tried my test again at the harness and all the lights went out in the car and it locked my key in the ignition. I disconnected the battery cable abd called it a night . Next day I told my son to put the pump back in the tank and see if he can get the key out. The darn car started and is running fine at the moment. So it was either the relay we replaced or the pump is working intermittanly. Time will tell.

Some of these cars have security systems that cut the fuel when
It believes it is being stolen. I bet ur ignition switch is bad. The ignition switch is a common problem
