In my opinion removing the cat will make it sound worse. Adding a long glasspack style muffler in line will make the car sound much better. I have chambered mufflers on my car with no cat or resonator and it sounded horrible until I put a cherry bomb in there.

Was your car a gxp? If you remove the cat you will need to run a spark plug non fouler to space out the rear 02 to try and trick the pcm into thinking you still have a cat.

I'd recommend a hearing aid. These cars never sound good/reasonable after the stock exhaust is removed.

If you like the raspy, oversized two stroke sound and want to make it louder..then you should not buy parts for the car, get hearing aids to make it louder.

    Just my opinion.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I was simply trying to help. He asked if anyone had any ideas to make it sound better.

I was referring to the 01+ overfueling issue. Didn't mean to come off negatively.

If the car can't run the Cat check then you will overfuel and waste gas.

As long as you run the rear O2 sensor or are 00 or earlier you're okay.

I was not aware of the overfueling issue. Thanks for the explanation.

i have headers with flowmasters and cat delete with a stock res and it sounds pretty good, imo. has a decent sounds with a sorta deep tone to it, but it drones kinda bad at cruise speed, but i dont mind it all that much. there is another gp in my town and it sounds like a civic with a fart cannon, and i have to say my car sounds complete opposite to that.
