So my heater, DIC, and my head lights are not working properly. They flip on and off with a mind of their own. Ive looked through enough threads to figure out that I need to replace the Ignition Switch but didnt find a DIY thread about it.

Is this an easy process to replace the Ignition Switch? Ive heard of alot of guys doin this so it sounds easy enough. If anyone knows of a good walk through that would be great thanks!

long and skinny is.. Park in a Sears parking lot (for easy access to tools ).

Pull the shroud off the column. Find the wiring for the igntion switch and remove it at the base of the column with a 7mm. Tie fishing line or string onto it. (to pull the new one back through the maze) Look at the worlds smallest torx head bolts and go buy the right size, cause it's friggin small. Pop those two off and one other set of wires, uh soleniod to rellease the key wires..yeah. Pull the connector up through the column and tie the string/line onto the new one. Reverse process to install.

    Nope, honestly never done one.

you've got to get the lock cylinder out. not hard as long as you know what to do. also, and this is big --- don't take the key out of the lock while it's out or you're screwed.

think it's on cgp where there's a great write up. might be here though? it's a ticky, where ever it is.

why does the lock cylinder come out? I've never seen/heard of that being touched since the switch is a different and seperate piece.

Found the thread and understand why you said pull the tumbler. It's because some guys remove things that don't need to be removed. aka excess work for the same end result. I was able to work around the tumbler w/o needing to pull it out.

something that's not unique to the ignition switch..... there's times I just shake my head at all the extra work I see folks describing.

I'm having the same issues with a 2000 GP, here are two links that another member of this forum sent me.

This link covers the trouble shooting to determine your next move.

This is the link for replacing the switch.

Good luck, I'll be attacking this soon as well.
