I have an 07 GT with the 5 button DIC.

Had the oil changed at the beginning of winter at the dealer because I had some other work done at the same time.

Had the oil changed again at a local shop a month ago and the tech said "Everythings good, but I can't reset the oil monitor". For the first four years I have had to the car, resetting the Oil Life Monitor was as easy as just using the reset button on the DIC.

Tried resetting it myself every which way--engine running, not running, press hold for more than 10 seconds--nothing would reset it. Reset button works fine because I am able to reset the MPG, Trip Odometers, etc.

Finally, in doing some research here, was reminded of the gas pedal pump reset. That did it and the OLM is reset.

But I was wondering if the dealer is able to do something that locks out the OLM reset from the DIC? Anything else I can look at.

It's not a big deal since I can get it to reset and it won't be bugging me to change oil soon, but I just don't like it when simple things don't work. Makes me worry that something else is going on behind the scenes that will cause problems down the line.

    Thanks,

    ---Matt

Turn the ignition to "on" without starting the engine. Pump the gas pedal to the floor three times in 5 seconds, iirc.

100% correct, just about all GM cars are like this.
