so i installed a new set, well kinda new set of SLP headers on my gtp.. installed em, cracked the lil tube on the EGR purge can. while doing so, tried a quick fix just for the moment until the next paycheck haha.. FAILED !..

So HEADERS ON, i got on the freeway(highway for some) i yeah it pulled nice, i could feel the diff. obviously... oh & i forgot to mention on the flex pipe it had a leak so it sounds crappy when im on the gas while excercising my right to pass slower cars haha (: .. After driving my car around since its my DD I started to get misfires at WOT or really close to WOT after a day or two after the header install..

As for the wires for the o2 sensors we extended the o2 wires for both of em since my cat was still there & we had to move it a lil more back.. we used the butt connectors for the o2 sensor after the car, & black tape (no more cash) for the pre-cat o2 sens. so right away no SES light, next day the SES light came on.. I started to get really CRAPPY MPG i mean went from 27-29 mpg to 15-18 ON THE FREEWAY.. i dont wanna even to mention the city mpg.. I thought it was the tube we broke, so i went and got a new EGR purge can (thank you napa ), installed it.. YES it HELPED but i still got CRAPPY mpg, LESS CRAPPY but still there.. Still had the misfires, still had the REALLY REALLY CRAPPY MPG & now that the prices are going up I really want to get it fixed fast hehe.. before i posted this thread up i was reading I saw that the exhaust leak might/is the main reason for the mpg..

    TODAY..
when i was arriving to the gym thats at work, my ABS & TCS lights came on.. i was passing thru threads before i posted mine up.. & maybe its the abs sensor that went bad.. i just replaced both front hubs.. but last oil change while on the lift my dad came to see that the ABS sensor on i dont remember which wheel was loose (it fell of the metal clip).. hopefully its just that.. since now i tried to get on the gas & the misfires are worse, if its the cat ill delete it

Thanks before hand for the help..

Messed up an EGR tube - Fail
Fixed the EGR tube - Win
Butt connectors - 16 Fails (assuming 2 per wire for both sensors)
Dayyyum that's a lot of fail. Solder is cheaper by the way, because you should own a soldering iron

Tough to tell if you flubbed a plug. Let's say it this way.
Left plugs in and put headers on - Fail
Removed plugs to put headers on - Win

Condition of your plug wires? Is this a Fail or Win?

Hang your head low until you get a little cash and fix the issues you shouldn't have rigged.

    hahahaha (:

ok ok so then it would be...
    butt connectors = 16 fails..
    then it would be aprox....
    17 FAILS, DAYYYYYUMMMMMMMMMMMM x2 hahahaha...
since i did leave in my plugs, but wires out when i did the install
    CONDITION OF WIRES:
    1/2 & 1/2 does that count?

BTW... around how much is a soldering gun?

& thanks.. i will have to wait,
good thing next paycheck is next week (:
    YAAAY-YAAH

about the Condition of the wires... well ive had the car for a lil bit more than a year now.. & honestly ive never changed the wires, never had an issue with em.. so i never touched em.. BUT NOW............
STOCK WIRES, right? no aftermarket shiz nit? any recommended..

So what can i do to fix the things i did but shouldnt of done?
how do i get em right for good? (:

    Thanks

Mine was leaking at thr front header and crossover and just after the u bend where it slips into the dp. So I rtv'd the **** out of the front and rear header and crossover conections and both slip joints on the dp. Problem fixed there but I have a serious oil leak in number 4 cylinder causing misfire code and fouling the plug in that cylinder. And it seems to be getting worse

well hope you get it or got it all fixed (:

well i was putting in something into the car, it was a b*tch but it was worth it (: since i was there already i checked all the cables & plugs.. plugs were good, check the cables.. seemed to be fine.. then checked the coils i saw one i think leading to cyl. 4 the tip was corroded, kinda rusted.. sanded it down, & then TRIED to put the cable back on & it wouldnt click.. checked the cable from inside looked rusted too :/ tried & did what i could & pushed the cable back on, it went in more firmly.. still didnt click but its the best i could FOR NOW.. took a test drive..
IM MISFIRING BUT JUST A BIT.... NOT THAT MUCH ANYMORE!..
GUESS ITS THE WIRES & MAYBE THAT COIL.. im gonna change em out this week.. well whenever it doesnt rain this week

Just one note(ok a few): make sure you don't get the dielectric grease on the metal contact or it will corrode it again. Take sandpaper and clean up the prongs on the coil packs. If the wires have corroded contacts, just get new OEM ones.

Soooo WOTGTP stopped over with headers yesterday afternoon. If he arrived at 4pm... We ran into major issues for a header install. He drove home a little before 11pm. We actually worked on it about 4, maybe 5 hours.

His car had been modded before and it's becoming clearer that it was even more modded than it is now. He found rockers, springs and a 3.8mps. The car probably had headers before, some bolts were super tight etc.

One of the studs in the head broke when trying to remove the nut from it. That never happens, never. With him holding the mirror and light, I freehand drilled it with a right angle drill. Then a trip to Sears for an extractor. Got it out and breathed a sigh of relief. Later on with the piece in the vice to remove it from the extractor, the extractor broke. I smiled and thought...that's the best time it could have chosen to break.

Oh..and somehow a SC plastic wire holder found it's way onto the motor, making his cool red wires look nice and neat.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

what would happen if i delete the cat? mpg wise... crappy or no prob at all?

    Thanks..
