so my mufflers have a hole in them, and will need to be replaced. i dont have much money right now, but i eventually want to get a borla cat back. but i was wondering if anyone has the (i think they are 40 series) Flowmasters from like Advanced Auto Parts, or autozone? if so do you have a sound clip or just mufflers, or pics or coments on them, thanx

YouTube - Exhaust Clip single chambers, just need a big cam and anything will sound good at idle, but when you rev it will sound like crap like all 3800s.

I have a pair of Flowmaster 40 series.... on my V8.... which is where they belong. They sound decent but suck performance-wise. Will be getting Magnaflows soon to replace them.

And yes, any chambered muffler will sound like a** on a 3800. I would just go for a stock replacement right now if you plan on switching to Borlas at some point. Depending on how bad the hole in your existing muffler is I would just patch it an move on.

Do a quick search for "mufflers" and see what is recommended.

A couple guys on the Bonneville sites run a pair of the FM 40s series, or 1 single 80s if you just do one outlet. They seem to like it but I haven't heard any 3800 with exhaust work done that I actually like.
Nobody hears the car at idle so what good is it when it sounds like crap actually going down the road.

Ive heard good things of Magnaflow and had one on my 4-banger, but it just sounded like a nicely tuned 4-banger
