    My 2000 gtp has 160k miles mostly highway. And uneware if trans has ever been serviced.just wondering if I should just leave alone or could do a drain and fill? Trans works good just fluid looks brown and used.

    How brown does it look? If it looks closer to motor oil then trans fluid, most people will suggest not to touch it.

    I wouldn't do a flush, but if you do anything I'd drop the pan, change the filter and possibly the gasket (gasket is usually included with filter.)

    Changing the gasket is not required if you have the original re-usuable gasket.....You can usually tell by the appearance of 2 lines that run along the gasket. Here is an example.

    You must replace the gasket if it is not the original gasket OR if it is leaking.

    The site where I found that image also has a write-up for dropping the pan and changing the filter. That link is located HERE.

    Most people recommend not doing a flush like postalc stated.

    Follow what he said replace the filter and go on with normal driving.

    Pan drop service. Filter and fluid. In about 3-6 months do it again and you'll have most of the old dead fluid out.
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Mine has 144K, I replaced all the solenoids , filter and flushed it myself.
    Can shifts smooth. I love the thought of all clean oil.

    I would drop the pan, change the filter and refill with dex VI. if you plan on keeping the car a bit, think about doing the shift improvement kit. May add a some length to the life of the trans.
