I have had a problem with starting my 2000 GP 3800 for a while now. It doesn't matter if its the first start in the morning or after its been warmed up. It will kick over but die immediately unless I keep my foot on the gas.
Today I changed the fuel pump relay, fuel filter, cleaned the MAF sensor and removed the throttle body to clean it up.
Its starting now but I'm not sure I have really taken care of the problem. (time will tell).
Can any one think of any thing I might have missed?
While I had the throttle body off I looked into the upper intake and could see a lot of carbon build up. I would have expected to see carbon but the build up seemed kind of heavy and it was moist. Can this indicate some sort of problem?

pull the egr valve off and look at the valve on it if you push it down and it gets stuck just keep playing with it till it stops getting jammed and spray break parts cleaner in the valve hole

the IAC valve is what you should look at. take it off, clean it up and clean up the bore it sits in.

When you get in the car, turn the key to on, wait for the pump to prime then try starting.

I had replaced the IAC valve and still intermentant problem. Ill check the EGR and fuel pressure regulator next. I took the car to advanced auto and 1 other place to have a scanner put on it. At both places nothing showed up on the scanner. ( I mean nothing, not even energized ). They said maybe my connection port was bad. Got any Ideas.
