Would there be anything wrong with just removing your hood liner? and or do you know of any roll on hood liner type things? I ask because mine looks like crap and one corner is even falling apart

take it off, just keeps the engine bay hotter..

the hood gets hotter in the sun than it does from the motor, your paint will be fine.

The only thing I have found that it does is keeps some of the engine noise quieter

The only reason it's there it's to act as a fire suppressant.........But if your engine catches on fire your pretty much screwed anyway, so it's pointless. Go ahead and take it off, and you should have some flawless paint under it.

Yeah GM actually does that to save money.

    Less paint = less money.

I've had mine off, in 105degrees plus Florida weather, with no problems at all.

If the lack of paint bugs you, just spray it.

If your car is a show car, get it paint matched to the rest of the hood, if not, who cares what it looks like? ITS THE UNDERSIDE OF YOUR HOOD!

If you go around poping your hood anywhere besides a GP meet, you're probably a ricer anyway.

I'd be interested to see what some of your setups look like, its not something I'd want to see every time I saw you. Once would be good.
