Yes GM has the Tech 2 scanner and it will check a lot. I don't think the GM scanner will do anymore then the Snap ON or Genesis OTC scanners except do the learn process for radios, Key Fobs etc. GM has some good Techs and are very well trained. I got my Degree in Automotive many years ago. Looks like we both may have some extra parts for a 3800 now? No matter how much a person knows or does not know, many things nowadays in modern technology requires some trial and error, even the dealerships can testify to that statement.. One thing for sure, if you have a GM facility diagnose the problem and let's say they say it is the injectors, it will be cheaper for you to do the work rather than have GM do it, BUT you may be getting so sick of this problem you may rather just have them do it and be done with it? I did a lot of checking ahead of time and TRIED to not do anything until I had good reason to do what I did, which not in all cases turned out to fix the problem.

You will get it fixed and you will " finally " be happy with the car. Gee I just spend over $600 for new Michelin Tires for my car.
