Well, the time has come to replace my lifters. There yellin at me whenever i start the car on a cold day.So i was wonderin if anyone has some doos or donts or general advice that a first timer might not know.I have the 78 dollar felpro gasket kit and the lifters i got from summit.I have built 2 motors b4 but they were both old ford v8s.I also have had a look at the lifters in 33 min video on here (without sound lol) so ive got the general idea. But any advice would be helpfull, Thanx!

A couple of suggestions is to make sure you actually have a problem, *I believe* yours are like most later models and are roller lifters and not flat tap it. With these it's not uncommon to get a bit of tapping cold and oil pressure hasn't come up yet on an engine with some miles. Automatic timing change can cause a bit as well. So there maybe nothing really wrong other than some minor lash adjustment and making sure the lifters are/aren't okay in general.

If you do verifiy you've got warn lifters it's likely they've worn on the cam as well. In anycase a partial fix on these assemblies could cause more harm than good.

As you've got some rebuild experience I'm sure a lot of this rings a bell or two.

If you have enough damage that the cam is worn then something else failed. As for the lifters you are 100% safe to replace them on a roller setup without worry on hurting the cam. Soak the lifters beforehand in a pan of oil to fill them up. This will prevent any damage internally to the lifters during first startup. Also you will need to replace the rocker bolts with new ones as they are torque to yield. If you plan on modding in the future you can get re-usable comp cams rocker bolts from vendors like Zzperformance.
