Hey guys my name is kyle i just recently bought a 2001 grand prix gt and it has alot of problems a couple that i could use your help with
when i turn the car on both the "trac off" light and the "ABS" light come on at nearly the same time.
I can drive around all day and they don't turn off.
The car does seem to have both ABS and the Traction control seems to be working fine.
The car does have 209,XXX miles on it so it has been around the block a time or 2.
The other day i had the car inspected at firestone here is the list of problems:
    Bad EGR
    Bad O2 sensor
    Bad MAS sensor
    broken pass side spring
Very loose drivers side tie rod (fixed)
    Original Plugs and wires
    Leaking intake plenum

Thats all the problems i and firestone have found so im looking to knock them out 1 by 1

Thanks for the help in advance.

Here is a pic of the car

do the intake gaskets first. as in, right now. those will take out your motor if you let them go.

the ABS/TRAC lights is probably a bad wheel bearing, but it never hurts to check the wiring harnesses to make sure they arent messed up.

Okay, the ABS and Traction control are probably bad Wheel Bearings.
Jack the car up, and try to wobble the tire side to side...if theres any play, then the bearings are shot.
Intake gasket needs to be done ASAP.
Replace the Plugs and wires...easy enough.
Replace the O2 sensors, and the car will thank you.
And replace the Spring...that could really do some damage if left untreated..

how hard is it to do the intake gasket?
im not used too engines that are turned the wrong way just bought this car as a winter beater
These Ohio winters will do a number on my 84' cutlass
I know the spring needs to be taken car of soon as with the intake gasket i randomly get the low coolant light and i do have to put antifreeze in it every once in a while but the leak isn't that bad
i also heard that dextron antifreeze is bad for these cars can anyone confirm that one for me?

First question I would have is does it run?

Inspected at Firestone? I smell rape!

Ya know what, first thing I would do is get a second opinion!

change your intake gaskets and do it ASAP! you could end up mixing coolant and oil or even worse you could get water in your cylinders..

All you have to do is undo everything around the intake unbolt it peel off old gaskets scrape the surface to get the new gasket to stick better and bam stick new gasket on bolt everything back up

Lol it does run it was inspected by my brother at firestone (ASE master tech, NADC college grad). I trust his word more than others. I'll take the intake gasket into consideration and do that as soon as possible. It does run like **** but warm weather is just around the corner and she will be parked. I don't think the coolant is mixing with the oil yet I checked very carefully on the last oil change so I think ill be alright for another week when I can get around with it

You have listed so many issues that it would be hard to tell what is actually wrong with your car. the Mass Air, how in the heck do they know it is bad? I have replaced a few Mass Air, units, but the car really act's up when the Mass Air is bad, will stall at times going down the road, will start and run one time and not the next P0102 can be the code for Mass Air.

Purchase a scanner as a lot of stuff you can keep track of yourself. Your question on replacing the intake gasket, just go on line and search there are links that explain how to do it. I changed a few and really just take some pictures and " TAKE YOUR TIME " If you feel you may have a valve cover gasket bad then do it when you replace the intake gasket.

Do you have a wheel bearing noise? Just knock off one at a time as your list is so long that I am sure you do not know where to start. With 209 K miles, HUMM make sure it is all worth it, better have the tranny all checked out also.

Well as far as the MAF sense I did have him run an engine diagnostic with their scan tool and it did come back as bad MAF sense along with the others it does stall alot she doesn't like cold starts she stutters on take off so yea there alot of things wrong with it but still a reliable car.
I do have noise coming from the wheel plus a little Bounce
I'm a little worried about the tranny here recently through 1st and 2nd she yanks pretty hard into gear.
But hell I'll add it too my other list of problems lol haven't been able to do too much work on it seeing as how I'm trying to get my olds cutlass up and running for the cruise coming up also just cracked the radiator on the dodge so that will be tomorrows project.
It porbably doesn't help that I work 6 days a week to support this addiction I call cars plus trying to balance a girlfriend in the process yea it's fun stuff but he'll it's life thanks for the heads up guys I'll get around to tackling this cars list before too long and I'm sure I'll check back I. With more problems before too long

On the tranny thing check your fluid level after driving and top it off. Sometimes its just lower fluid levels causing problems.

For replacing the LIM Gasket look here.

    http://www.cpaclubgp.com/misc/lim-gasket.html

Its a vid on how to replace it.

When you get around to the broken spring, you might as well do the strut too. Come to think of it, you better do springs and struts at all 4 corners.
