Pouring Coolant?

i started my car up today after we have gotten our first freeze last nite (btw..i live in tx)...i know that i didnt have antifreeze in the radiator . i did however put some in and started the car..as i filled the radiator.. i noticed that the coolant was pouring out from under the car. Now, with the car running and the engine heating up..u could start to see the coolant burning and that distinct smell. The leak is coming from behind the engine..somewhere above the oil pan...b/c that is where all the coolant in pouring from...I mean it is pouring out about as fast as i pour it in the radiator....this just isnt no small leak...Any ideas?

no antifreeze? just water?? if and the temp went under 32 deg's?

then my guess is you popped out a freeze out plug. you need to get under the car and look at the sides of the block to see if these a 2 inch open hole, and replace with a new plug.

its a easy fix as long as the exhaust manifolds aren't in the way of getting to it.

check the heater hoses too, one of them may have split open as well.

yea kinda sounds like a CORE plug broke. I hope you didnt crack the block either, becuase sometimes the block will crack when the core plug gives way.

also check your heater core hoses.

yes..yes....i luv this community!!!! ok...so r they hard to install....do i need a sealant when i install them? do i need one or two? sorry to sound so noobish, but this is a first for me.

i think lock-tight sells a sealant for the freeze out plugs these days, in the old day you would just clean out the hole and pound a new one in, to install one you really just need a big socket that fits real close to the plug size and tap it in. just lightly sand the inside of the hole, to remove any rust or crap out of it so the new plug has a clean hole to live in.

you may get stuck buying a whole kit for the block, not sure if they sell them individually.

okay...it is the freeze plug but it is the one behind the engine block where the exhaust manifold is......wut is the easiest way to get access to this so i can replace....will it require me to raise the engine??? advise?
